Each bottle of Vanaha carries an ambitious medley of the finest botanicals from the biodiverse forests of India; right from the evergreen canopies at the foothills of the Himalayas to the dense rainforests of the northeast, and further away to the uniquely verdant western ghats. Juniper berries, angelica root and other classic gin botanicals are curated with a discerned selection of deodar, kaffir lime, palash, wild berries and other rare forest botanicals to make Vanaha; a singularly sublime spirit that’s a bold feat in itself.

Juniper Berries

There’s no gin without juniper berries. In fact, gin gets its name from jenever, the Dutch word for this classic botanical. We source our juniper berries from two distinct regions, himalayan foothills and macedonian mountains, to bring out the most potent flavour. Possessing a piney, fruitiness, juniper lends crisp, refreshing notes to Vanaha.

A spice without which most Indian dishes would be incomplete is also a quintessential part of traditional gin making. The seeds of the coriander plant found abundantly across the Indian subcontinent has a flavour that’s surprisingly versatile. A binding agent of acclaim, the orris root is a classic gin botanical that is first harvested and stored for up to 3 years and then ground to a powder before distilling. Deep within the rain-drenched forests of Assam, the Kaji Nemu (Assam Lemon) tree births a remarkable, wild lemon, unique to the land. Greater in zest and size than regular lemons, we use the peel of this wild citrus to give our gin its distinct vibrancy.
